What are the advantages of electronic signatures?

Question by Tania Morgen: What are the advantages of electronic signatures?
A client I work with recommended it to us, but I’m not sure why I should get it/… I mean.. what’s wrong with paper?? 🙂

Advantages of the digital signature:
Authentication, identification of the person that signs.

1) No replacement, the signature was made by the person that signed using devices under his control;
2) Integrity of data, every change will be detected; no repudiation, because the author can not denied that he has written and sent;
3) Secret key known by the parts, that guarantees the data was sent between them.
4) By allowing an organization to eliminate or at least reduce the use of paper in business processes that require signatures, electronic signatures yield the obvious benefit of reducing outlays for paper and printing.
